SYS-RLZ Installation Guide

With each SYS-RLZ Systainer3 Pro Rail Slides package ordered, you should receive the SYS-RLZ Systainer3 Rails, the SYS-RLZ Retention Brackets and the required M6.3-11 X 18MM Pozi Flat Head Euro Screws.  To begin installation you will need the following:

  1. SYS-RLZ Systainer3 Rails
  2. SYS-RLZ Retention Bracket
  3. Supplied M6.3 Euro Screws
  4. Festool 5 mm Centrotec Self Centering Bit, Snappy Tools 46005 5 mm Shelf Pin Guide, or standard 5 mm drill bit (not supplied)
  5. Drill or driver (not supplied)
  6. Posi Drive bit (not supplied)
  7. Measuring tool, layout device or SYS-RLZ Installation Template
  8. Cup of coffee or other adult beverage

There are several different avenues to take for installation depending on the cabinet you are installing the SYS-RLZ into.  We will cover the three most common options in this guide.  At the bottom of this guide we also have several Tips and Tricks for your information.

INSTRUCTIONS (32mm system holes with SYS-RLZ template)

If you are installing the SYS-RLZ into a cabinet with 32 mm system holes and have one of our SYS-RLZ Runt or Ogre Installation templates then you will need to do the following:

  1. Determine the location in the cabinet where you'd like to install the SYS-RLZ
  2. Insert the supplied 5 mm pin(s) into an existing 5 mm 32 mm system hole
    1. If you are using our SYS-RLZ Runt template you will need to use a square to align the template perpendicular to the cabinet front by placing the template 'Registration Edge' onto the square
    2. If you are using our SYS-RLZ Ogre template you can use the two supplied 5 mm pins to register and square the template perpendicular to the cabinet face by using two (2) 32 mm system holes
  3. Use either a  Festool 5mm Centrotec Self Centering Bit or Snappy Tools 46005 (depending on which template was ordered) to drill the mounting holes into the cabinet side
  4. Place SYS-RLZ Retention Bracket into the mating recess on the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide  (figure 1 below)
  5. Secure the retention bracket to the side of the cabinet using the supplied  M6.3-11 X 18MM Pozi Flat Head Euro Screws with a screwdriver or an installation driver with a relatively low torque setting (it is not recommended that you use an impact driver to secure the screws into the cabinet sides)
  6. Repeat steps above until all SYS-RLZ Rail Slides are installed

INSTRUCTIONS (No 32mm system holes with SYS-RLZ template)

If you are installing the SYS-RLZ into a cabinet with no 32 mm system holes and do have one of our SYS-RLZ Runt or Ogre Installation templates then you will need to do the following:

  1. Determine the location in the cabinet where you'd like to install the SYS-RLZ
  2. Make a horizontal layout mark perpendicular to the front of the cabinet inline where you wish the bottom of the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide to be installed
  3. Select the inset you wish your SYS-RLZ Rail Slide (1 mm, 5 mm or 15 mm) and insert the supplied 5 mm pin(s) into the corresponding hole(s)
    1. If you are using our SYS-RLZ Runt template you will need to use a square to align the template perpendicular to the cabinet front by placing the registration edge onto the square
    2. If you are using our SYS-RLZ Ogre template you can use the two supplied 5 mm pins to register and square the template perpendicular to the cabinet face
  4. Use either a  Festool 5mm Centrotec Self Centering Bit or Snappy Tools 46005 (depending on which template was ordered) to drill the mounting holes into the cabinet side
  5. Place SYS-RLZ Retention Bracket into the mating recess on the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide (figure 1 below)
  7. Repeat steps above until all SYS-RLZ Rail Slides are installed

INSTRUCTIONS (No 32mm system holes / no SYS-RLZ template)

If you are installing the SYS-RLZ into a cabinet with no 32 mm system holes and do not have one of our SYS-RLZ Runt or Ogre Installation templates then you will need to do the following:

  1. Determine the location in the cabinet where you'd like to install the SYS-RLZ
  2. Make a horizontal layout mark perpendicular to the front of the cabinet inline where you wish to drill the mounting holes on the side of the cabinet.  For reference, the center of the retention bracket mounting hole is 14 mm from the bottom of the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide
  3. Mark your first mounting hole location along the horizontal mark.  For reference, the center of the retention bracket mounting hole is 67 mm from the front of the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide (i.e. if you want a 5 mm inset for the front of the rail, then make this mark 72 mm from the front of the cabinet)
  4. Mark your second mounting hole location along the horizontal mark 64 mm back from the location marked in Step 3
  5. Drill a 5 mm mounting hold at the marks made in Step 3 and Step 4
  6. Place SYS-RLZ Retention Bracket into the mating recess on the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide  (figure 1 below)
  8. Repeat steps above until all SYS-RLZ Rail Slides are installed

TIPS & TRICKS

The 'Registration Edge' on either the SYS-RLZ Runt or SYS-RLZ Ogre Installation Template can be placed at the bottom of the cabinet and will provide the appropriate clearance between the side and the cabinet so the SYS-RLZ Rail Slide can still actuate

SYS-RLZ Ogre Installation Template can be used to rapidly install a stack of M89 or L89 into a cabinet by using all four (4) drill template holes.  The upper and lower drill template holes on the SYS-RLZ Ogre template are spaced to maximize the number of Systainer3 Organizers that can be installed into a cabinet.

  1. Simply select your alignment method (32 mm system or supplied inset pins) and drill four holes.
  2. Install both sets of SYS-RLZ (using steps referenced above)
  3. Place the 'Registration Edge' of the SYS-RLZ Ogre Template onto the upper rail you just installed
  4. Use the upper drill template holes to drill two (2) more holes
  5. Install another SYS-RLZ (using steps referenced above)
  6. Repeat steps 3 thru 5 until all SYS-RLZ have been installed or cabinet space has been exhausted
